Important Information
An electrician is required to conduct a load test to ensure you can make an informed purchase decision based on your needed amperage per phase.
Generators are manufactured to run at 80% of their maximum output when at sea level and in a neutral climate. Factors such as altitude and temperature can affect the efficiency of your engine, therefore creating less power.
Limitations of Use
- Do not use more than 50% of your generator’s rated load for your first step load.
- Do not use more than 75% of your generator’s rated load for your running load.
These limitations are set to account for any spikes or drops in current that naturally occur in the combustion process of fuel-powered generators.
Expert Advice
When deciding on generator size, we recommend considering a machine with 20% more delivery than required. This will prevent overloading and prolong the lifetime of the unit.
